Loving Right Now

Spring is here. The sun is shining most days. I’m ready to freshen up my wardrobe with colors and more relaxed layered looks. Every weekend seems to be filling up with fun outdoors activities, and I’m getting through lots of books because I have much more energy to stay awake and read. So, I thought I’d talk about a few things I’m really loving right now.

Old Navy

Button Crepe Blouse $19.50 and Rockstar Super Skinny Jeans $29.50 at Old Navy

1. Old Navy

I have this blouse in a few colors. They’re perfect for a casual work outfit with heels and jewelry, but also go great with skinny jeans and flats for the weekend. So I’m basically living in them. And the Rockstar Super Skinny jeans are the most comfortable skinny jeans I’ve had in a long time. They’re perfect! I had written off skinny jeans for a while, but these ones are so comfy! I went up a size and got them in Long, and they’re great! And at such a good price, I got a back-up pair too. That’s the other thing, Old Navy’s prices let me try out new styles without spending a ton of money. Plus, there’s a sale like every week, so I’ve never paid list price for any of it.

2. The Audible App

I’ve recently started listening to audiobooks. And the Audible App for iPhone has really made it easy. I used to have to download the book to iTunes and then plug in my phone to add the book in. Now, the app just lets me download it onto my phone wirelessly and delete the download as I’m done with it. It also works with running apps like Couch to 5K, so I don’t have to interrupt anything to be able to listen and work out at the same time.

3. Bloglovin’

Google recently announced that Google Reader will no longer be available beginning July 1st. This created a mass exodus to Feedly and Bloglovin’. I have both, but I prefer Bloglovin’, because I’m more of a list person, and I can understand the “Read” and “Unread” blogs more easily than with Feedly. I also like that it goes directly to the blog, so I don’t have to click through to make a comment or see the layouts that people work so hard on. It’s been great so far! Bye bye, Google Reader.

Other Notables:

Candy Crush Saga, a ridiculously addicting game on the iPhone.

Drug stores with tons of lipstick and nail polish options, even though I only exit with one of each.

Yogurtland, because the delusion of piling tons of fruit on your yogurt makes you feel good about eating dessert everyday

The Croods: I’m 24. I went to go see this with my nieces, and cried three times with my sister who is over 30. Yeah, we’re super cool.

What are you loving right now?

I receive no compensation for promoting these companies. But if you’re out there, help a girl out.

Concerning Sleep

I wonder often if I have a problem. And that is sleep. I go to sleep around 10 or 11 every night and usually do not wake up before 6 every morning. In some cases, I sleep until 6:30 even. I feel like this might be excessive sleep for someone my age. I have friends and colleagues who only average 5 hours of sleep a night. And I wonder why I can’t do that. I don’t take naps, and I don’t usually wake up feeling tired. I keep trying to set a goal to wake up earlier, but I don’t because my body isn’t ready to wake up yet. Am I a less functioning adult because I sleep like an eight year old?

And the other weird thing is, I need that much sleep almost every night like my need to eat regularly. I feel like E is always living off of reserves. He only eats one big meal a day and doesn’t feel hungry again until the next day around dinner time. And he sleeps for most of the weekend, and only sleeps a few hours a night during the week. When I asked him about it, he says that he feels rested from the weekend. Is that even normal?

Am I strange for requiring and giving my body nearly 8 hours every night? Am I missing out on more of life because I’m sleeping? I will say this, though. I rarely feel tired during the day, unless I had a bad sleep the night before. I usually only need one cup of English Breakfast tea to get me through the day. And again, I don’t nap. (I never did, even in pre-school.)

Or, am I the one that’s doing it right? I find very few things so important that they can’t wait until the next day. I try to stop screen time as early as possible. And I wonder if my wedding projects would be done by now if I just gave up some sleep. Besides work, the wedding, and E, I have few responsibilities that take away my sleep. And I know eventually, a time will come when I will be low on sleep, so I might as well sleep while I can, right?

Currently On My Mind

1. I am so very excited for my bachelorette weekend in Las Vegas that begins tomorrow!

2. My cousin, K, is flying down from Seattle in the early morning to spend a week down here with us and I couldn’t be happier about it. She’s really a sister.

3. Work has been crazy, but so productive and gratifying.

4. Next week, I am going to start taking the train again. While my cousin and I love spending time together, the extra long drive to work isn’t really helping either of us. I hope I can get back to reading more regularly again and feeling better when I get home.

5. E got us a Kinect to go with his shiny brand new Xbox. 360 that he got as a Christmas present. I’m having a lot of fun with the dance games. Although, both of us look pretty ridiculous.

6. Temple Run for iPhone is driving me crazy! I love it and I hate it, and it makes me miss two things: Indiana Jones and Super Mario Brothers. Nerd alert!

7. My Girl Scout cookies are dwindling, which is a good and bad thing. I will be paying for those cookies for a long time in the gym. And I will be missing those cookies like crazy for another year.

8. I have a BIG coupon to Banana Republic. I hope I can resist it for the weekend.

9. Ebay is having a Coach Factory Sale! I finally got over the burn from Kate Spade and have ordered a truly grown-up girl purse. It may be boring, but I have a feeling it will last for several years, when again, I will feel the itch for good strong purse.

List Time!

Things I have been good about:  Bringing lunch to work 4/5 times a week.  Going to bed when I feel tired.  Tidying up (not daily, but more often than before.)  Reading.  Being conscious of spending. Things I have been bad about:  Snacking too often.  Blogging  Wedding planning.  Exercising more often. Things I am looking forward … Keep reading

Brain Dump

I could talk about so many things, but I don’t have time to devote a post to each random thought. So, it’s time for a brain dump.

1. Work is great, but the commute (even on the train) is exhausting. Trying to make time in my day to exercise is a very difficult thing.

2. I have great friends. E and I went out for our good friend from high school’s birthday. Of course, because our friend is one of the best, most of our core friends came out. Imagine that. Former straight-laced choir kids were the biggest group in the bar – in Canyon Country. I love my friends, and the other E in my life, bestie from high school, was down from the northern part of our state, which made the whole thing even better.

3. The wedding is not really a big focus for me right now. I need to focus on the new job, the move, and sleep. In a two-year engagement, the excitement comes in waves.

4. Lolita is such a challenging read.

5. I feel the need for electronics upgrades. Particularly a new notebook. Or an iPad. And the Easy Touch nook. And the new iPhone. Does anyone have any idea of when that is coming out? Details, please!

6. I tear up every time I see Remember the Titans. Can you guess what’s on TV right now? Yeah.

7. So You Think You Can Dance makes my summer a very exciting event.

8. Any summer movies I should go see? And if you say Harry Potter, I will be offended that you think I haven’t already seen that.

9. Thank God for Pottermore. I can’t wait!

10. I hope to have a two-year minimum stay at our next living arrangement. Moving is just too much.

DUMPED. Off to a weekend of errand-running and sleeping. Grown-up life is a little ridiculous.
