Guilty Pleasures

I have a confession. After a set of heavy reads and “mom fiction,” I like to pull out chick lit. And I LOVE the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella.

I just finished Mini Shopaholic, the latest in the Shopaholic series. I thought we weren’t going to see anymore of Becky Brandon (neé Bloomwood) after she and Luke became parents with new priorities in life that didn’t include designer luggage and the newest Miu Miu handbag. But no, she’s back! And it was a delightful, easy read, that cracked me up.

Now, let me explain why I like Becky. I am a bit of a shopaholic myself. My tastes are limited by my bank account and my access to a huge brand. And I feel less crazy when I see how bad Becky is. Really. But I think the best thing about Becky is that she is ridiculously passionate and will go to any lengths for things she believes in, and the most important thing to her is her family. And the end result is always for their benefit. So, she goes through these crazy schemes and lies to do the best possible thing for her family. And this last one is no different.

I’m ready to go on your next adventure Becky! And I love all the little British words you drop everywhere. It’s delightful.
