This is pretty lame to admit, and apologies to all my friends who participated and my readers, but I could not at all follow through with the October Photography Challenge. I started out with guns blazing, but I got pretty stumped on the perspective week, and once I fell out of it, I just couldn’t get back in.
I think I have found out a few things about how I relate to photography last month. So here we go:
- I like pictures, I really do. I just don’t think I’m the best at taking them. And I know the point was to practice my photography skills, but that takes me to my next point.
- The iPhone and Instagram are very cool tools, but not the best devices for good photography. I have a point-and-shoot, which I really like, but I don’t always have it with me, so I lose a lot of opportunities for decent shots that way.
- Being away from home was challenging, but I made it work for the first week, but when it came to many later prompts, I thought of something I could photograph at home, but I wouldn’t be home to do so.
- Since my main medium of participating was Instagram, I wanted to really think of what photos to take and/or use, because that photo would go onto Instagram for people to follow. I didn’t want to share something that wasn’t very good or not well thought-out. Even now, I always think twice before taking a picture and putting it on Instagram.
So, yeah, I totally fell off the boat on this one. But, I’m hoping I can participate in another month long photo challenge in the coming year. I just wish I could have finished this one because so many of my Bee friends participated and it’s fun to share stuff with them. There’s always next year, isn’t there?
