Day 10 – Favorite classic book

I couldn’t choose between these two.

East of Eden by John Steinbeck

Admittedly, I don’t love many classics. I try to enrich myself by reading one or two classics a year, but I rarely enjoy them. I certainly appreciate them. But these are two books that I love and can read over and over again. East of Eden is such a rich story that pulls from the biblical tales, but retells them in such a twisted and character-driven way. I think it’s just beautiful. Little Women is one of the first books I fell in love with, and the first that really helped me establish my love for books about sisterly bonds and relationships. While I wish I could be more like Jo, I am definitely more like Meg.

Are there any classics that you can just pick up over and over again?

One response

  1. I think every second book I read is a classic (as in:way old, not always as in: A story that transcends time). I did not enjoy Little Women a lot, but I read it as a grown-up, so who knows. I have not read East Of Eden, and have never even heard of it, but it does sound interesting.
